NewsArcade_Classroom:
Seriously play the news in the classroom! Fostering critical thinking in news literacy through gamification in education
NewsArcade@Classroom is an educational extension of the existing Creative Europe NewsArcade-Seriously Play the News! project (101060250), originally designed to gamify news stories and enhance media literacy among young adults. The new initiative aims to adapt and upscale the NewsArcade format for use in media and information literacy education, targeting students aged 12-25 and supporting educators in teaching critical thinking, digital literacy, and media analysis.
Objectives:
1.We aim to empower students aged 12-25 with critical thinking

We aim to empower students aged 12-25 with critical thinking, digital literacy, and media analysis skills by offering interactive and immersive learning experiences through gamified news storytelling and the updating of the existing authoring tool developed as part of the NewsArcade project to reflect educational needs.
2.Scale up best practices in media literacy education

Drawing from the success of the NewsArcade project, our proposal aims to scale up best practices in media literacy education by developing new educational formats and empowering educators in delivering effective media literacy instruction by providing them with innovative tools and resources for gamified news storytelling.
3.Share knowledge and exchange best practices

Through a cross-border collaborative effort of the participating organisations from Cyprus, Denmark, Portugal, Germany, and France and beyond through our associated partners and stakeholder engagement with educational institutions, media experts etc. (e.g., WAN-IFRA, NISV, SDU, EDMO regional hubs), we aim to share knowledge and exchange best practices between different regions of Europe, contributing to a more cohesive and interconnected media literacy landscape.
