We are pleased to announce that the State of the Art Report of the NewsArcade@Classroom project is now available for download on our website.
The report represents a major milestone in our ongoing efforts to advance media literacy education through gamification, combining academic rigor with field-based research to inform the design and development of the innovative NewsArcade learning tool.
About the Report
The State of the Art Report provides a comprehensive overview of current practices, trends, and evidence in media literacy education enhanced by gamification. It brings together findings from both desk research and a systematic literature review, alongside field-based data collected from educators, students, and media literacy experts across partner countries (Cyprus, Denmark, Portugal, France).
By combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the report establishes a robust evidence base to guide the project’s next steps and ensure that the NewsArcade tool responds to the real needs of its target audiences.
The State of the Art Report also outlines detailed research protocols for the desk research, systematic literature review, and field-based activities—including surveys, interviews, and focus groups, ensuring a transparent and rigorous approach to data collection and analysis.
A Foundation for Innovation
Findings from this phase are instrumental in shaping the ongoing development of the NewsArcade gamified learning platform, which aims to foster critical thinking, media awareness, and engagement in classrooms across Europe.
By aligning theoretical frameworks with practical insights, the report sets the foundation for an evidence-based, user-centered design process that will benefit both educators and learners.
